It’s officially over between Mackenzie Scott and Dan Jewett. The former couple finalized their quick divorce in Washington state. It was first reported in September that Mackenzie had filed for divorce, only a little over a year after they tied the knot.
Mackenzie and Dan announced their marriage in 2021 in a post to Giving Pledge’s website, an organization that encourages billionaires to donate the majority of their money to charity.

“I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know — and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others,” Dan, a former high school teach from Seattle, wrote.
“I look forward to the growth and learning I have ahead as a part of this undertaking with MacKenzie,” he continued.
To this day, neither party has given a reason behind the divorce. But Dan didn’t dispute Mackenzie’s original divorce filing, nor her mention that spousal support wasn’t needed.
Mackenzie and Dan’s divorce may have just been finalized, but the exes reportedly settled their finances in September. According to reports, the pair had signed a “separation contract,” which dictated what each would walk away with following their divorce.
“A separation contract under Washington law is when you say to your spouse, ‘We’re going to get divorced, and we can work out all the details ourselves,” family law attorney David Glass told PEOPLE a the time.

“Let’s write it up in an agreement and we’ll just notify the court that we’ve figured everything out,’” he continued.
It remains unclear how the former couple’s finances were divided, but Mackenzie’s wealth has been under intense speculation. She’s currently valued at $26.6 billion, though Mackenzie is known for donating large sums of money at once – and encouraging the rest of the world’s wealthy to do the same.
Mackenzie was formerly married to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos from 1993 to 2019. Following their divorce, she walked away with $36 billion in Amazon stock, though he kept 75% of their ownerships in the company’s stock.
Shortly after the divorce, Mackenzie pledged to donate the majority of her wealth to charitable initiatives. She even signed the Giving Pledge, a non-legally binding commitment billionaires to take to donate their fortune over their lifetime.
She’s continued her charitable initiatives following her second divorce, including a $2 billion pledge to help high school students.
