Who needs Tom Ford when you’ve got tie-dye sweats?

At February’s 2021 Golden Globes, Jason Sudeikis made headlines for wearing a pastel hoodie while accepting his Best Actor award for “Ted Lasso.”

As it turns out, however, the 45-year-old funnyman was supposed to wear something far more formal for the virtual event.

“I wore that hoodie because I didn’t wanna f—king wear the f—king top half of a Tom Ford suit,” Sudeikis told GQ, noting that the Globes took place in the middle of the night in London, where he was filming the Apple TV+ show at the time.

“I love Tom Ford suits. But it felt weird as s—t,” he added.

So Sudeikis changed out of the suit the Tom Ford team had sent over, and into a sweatshirt from his sister’s dance studio, Forward Space. The style lit up social media, and swiftly sold out.

“It was like, ‘This is how I feel. I believe in moving forward,’” the star said.

And while Sudeikis’ dazed, bleary-eyed acceptance speech sparked speculation that he might have been under the influence, the actor added, “I was neither high nor heartbroken.”

What’s more, he stood by his style choice: Just a few weeks later, Sudeikis wore another hoodie to the Critics’ Choice Awards, this time a navy number printed with the name of a fictional high school from “Booksmart,” which was directed by his ex-fiancée Olivia Wilde.

Wilde, 37, even joked about the viral moment, tweeting, “I hope this means we all keep wearing hoodies when the ceremonies are in person next year.”

Perhaps we’ll see Sudeikis in sweats at September’s in-person Emmys, where he’s nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy.
