Inside Kate Middleton’s adorable royal baking tradition she follows for her children

Kate Middleton is no stranger to following protocol and sticking to tradition after marrying into the Royal Family.

However, the mum of three, 40, has a few traditions of her own that she’s put in place for her children Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, seven, and four year old Prince Louis.

To celebrate the young royals’ birthdays, Kate previously told Mary Berry that she has started a tradition that involves baking them each a homemade cake for their birthday.

She starts this prep as soon as the children go to bed on the eve of their big day and goes into the Cambridge family’s kitchen to get baking.

Speaking to Mary Berry in 2019, during a special festive show called A Berry Royal Christmas, the Duchess revealed how she does it.

“It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.”

In recent weeks, she’s has plenty of practice with baking and has done it twice for Princess Charlotte’s birthday on 2 May and shortly before Prince Louis’ on 23 April.

The Duchess has a break until Prince George turns nine on 22 July.

Princess Charlotte celebrated her seventh birthday earlier this week and according to reports, Prince William, 39, and Kate made sure she had a day fit for a princess.

According to Us Weekly , her parents have a strict rule they follow on each of their children’s birthdays.

Speaking to the publication, a source explained: “Kate and William have one important rule whenever it’s George, Charlotte and Louis’ birthday – they clear their schedules and avoid any work calls, unless there’s an emergency, to enable them to give their children their undivided attention.”

“The gift Charlotte wanted more than anything was a pony. She has been taking horse riding lessons for over a year and is obsessed,” the source added.

The source also reported that Charlotte also received a scooter and some trainers from her parents, as well as a selection of outdoor games from her brothers George and Louis.
