How much do the Love Island bombshells know before going in?

WithLove Island back on our screens, the drama in the villa has turned up a notch following thearrival of bombshells Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Afia Tonkmor.

As the new contestants made their debut in the ITV2 show’s stunning new Majorcan villa, fellow islanders were left “rattled” by their forward approach when it came to making moves and cracking on.

In one clip, the contestants gathered around the infamous firepit where Ekin-Su and Afia asked each person to detail their coupled up status one-by-one.

But how much exactly do the bombshells know about the villa dynamics beforehand? Let’s take a peek at what we know…

In an interview with OK! last year, 2021 bombshellRachel Finni addressed the subject and revealed that she was allowed to watch the show while waiting in isolation before entering the villa, though there were some restrictions in place.

“You do get to watch it [the show] but you don't get to see the adverts or everyone's ITV cutaways in between so you do get to watch the show but it's by a private link,” she explained.

“Obviously, you'd like to see the bits in between but because you're not allowed to watch […] you don't have access to the outside world because you're in quarantine so you can't watch it live on TV because you can't watch the news, you can't check Instagram or anything.

“So we're purely watching the show and nothing else.”

Similarly, 2018 contestant Savanna Darnell opened up to OK! last month about howshe watched the show “every night” while waiting to fly out for filming and was allowed to watch the launch show while in isolation.

After eventually entering during the Casa Amor stage of the series, Savanna revealed that having access to the show beforehand hadn’t been entirely positive.

“Once I was in the villa the nerves really started to kick in,” she said.

“I’d watched these boys on TV for the past month, and so I felt starstruck.”

As a result, it appears that entering the show as a bombshell can come with a degree of power, with contestants having access to the outside world as well as knowledge of what’s played out on camera.

“Bombshells can be ruthless because they have more knowledge. They can go in and manipulate the situation,” former winnerCara de la Hoyde toldGlamour Magazine in 2017.

“When Bombshells would come in other people would ask them questions like ‘How many followers have I got?’ But I didn’t want to know anything,” she added.

“If the Bombshells told you stuff then it would change your behaviour. We were ourselves. We didn’t want outside influence.”

Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2.
