It's understandable for a bride and groom to want the perfect wedding day.

But is a person's special day enough to lose a childhood friend over?

One bride wrote a Facebook post asking if it was "shallow" of her to worry about the photos of her mate.

She wrote: "I'm really not trying to catch heat for this, but I need opinions.

"My childhood best friend and I always talked about being in each other's weddings growing up.

"I'm choosing my bridesmaid and really want to ask her to be my MOH (maid of honour)."

She continued: "My dilemma… I haven't visually seen her in a while, but yesterday saw a video of her and sometime recently she developed a large cavity in her front teeth.

"Am I shallow for worrying how the photos will look on the big day?"

The bride added that she adores her friend but doesn't want to look back on the photos and "have that in there or have family judge".

And it's not just the woman who's having fears about the photos too.

She admitted: "I don't know what to do and don't want to hurt anyone's feelings!

"My fiancé is concerned too. Do I ask her and hope it isn't noticed? Do I not ask her and risk the friendship? SOS."

After a screenshot of the bride's message was shared on a wedding shaming thread on Reddit.

And more than 120 commented on the post since it was uploaded over the weekend.

One said: "Idgaf what my friends look like at my wedding. I just want them to be happy and have a good time and celebrate with me no matter what. This is awful."

Another added: "Can't she smile with her mouth shut?"

A third asked: "Why does it matter? We are getting married and idgaf if anyone has bad teeth. It's not a wedding for only attractive people is it?"

And a fourth commented: "Holy hell, it is amazing how many people forget what the wedding is actually for."
