DEAR DEIDRE: MY boyfriend’s mum does all she can to cause trouble for me.

I am 17 and my boyfriend is 18. He told me bad stuff about his childhood when I was round his house one day and I called his mum a bad word. She overheard me.

Since then she’s lied to my dad about me being rude about my mum and to my boyfriend about me cheating.

My dad didn’t believe her but my boyfriend was upset and angry with me until he discovered the truth.

Now he wants me to see her and make things OK between us.

DEIDRE SAYS: Your boyfriend may legally be an adult but he probably still feels pretty powerless around his mum, who sounds to be deceitful and manipulative.

Tell her you’re sorry you used bad language in her home but then leave it.

Steer clear of her as much as possible.
