The new trailer for Brad Pitt’s sci-fi drama Ad Astra is here, and it’s time to take a dramatic journey into space. In the atmospheric footage, astronaut Roy McBride (Pitt) is injured in a strange event on Earth known as “the surge,” and as he recovers, he soon finds himself being dragged back into the center of the action, thanks to the connection that his father holds to a looming cosmic disaster.

He sets off on a journey for answers, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be an easy ride. Fortunately he’s not doing it alone — Liv Tyler, Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, and Donald Sutherland costar. Get a peek at the epic production above, as the movie is set to hit theaters Sept. 20.
