Raise Your Hand If You've Ever Hung Out With A Dog At A Party

We’ve all been there. You’re at a party, having an OK time, when from the corner of your eye you spot something rustling in between the (possibly drunken) guests.

You both make eye contact, and suddenly the party and everyone in it don’t matter anymore. It’s all about you and your new best friend, AKA, a dog you’ve never met before.

So you proceed to run off to the kitchen or sit on a couch somewhere away from your friends and have a full-fledged cuddle session with the pup.

You ask them about their hopes, fears, and aspirations.

You remind them of how cute they are and you begin to feel like you’ve known them your entire life.

Suddenly, you don’t feel like such a stranger at this party anymore. You found a friend, and everything feels right in the world.

Your human friends then begin to wonder where you are. You even forget where you are.

But it doesn’t matter, It’s just you and this good dog against the bad, bad world.

You ask yourself, “Should…should I take them home?”

But you don’t, ’cause that’s messed up. But the thought crosses your mind more than once.

You quickly realize that time is fleeting and at some point tonight, you’ll have to leave them. Even worse, you might even have to go back to socializing with humans.

So you pet them a million times over and remind them that you’ll never forget the impact they had on you.

Before your monologue is even over, it’s 3 a.m. and everyone has left the party.

The host finds you in some corner with their dog and tells you that the party is over and you’ve gotta get going.

So you say, “Fine, but I’m coming back soon…for you,” and look into the dog’s eyes dramatically while slowly letting go of their paw one last time.
