Piers Morgan has joked that the real ‘horror’ of the coronavirus pandemic is him being told he now has to do his own make-up on Good Morning Britain.
ITV’s breakfast show has been forced to scale back because of the outbreak when it comes to its crew, despite Good Morning Britain now being extended until 10am.
Bringing in new measures while the coronavirus crisis plays out, the show is going ahead with much less of its cast and crew working behind-the-scenes.
Piers is still at the helm of Good Morning Britain, while his co-host Susanna Reid has been joining the show via video link as she is self-isolating at home.
Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby joined Piers in the GMB studio on Monday and said how strange it was to see the studio so empty.
Taking to Twitter just hours later, Piers touched on the cutbacks and joked: ‘BREAKING: New coronavirus horror… just been told I have to do my own make-up on @GMB tomorrow.’

‘We’re focusing our efforts on providing to viewers the latest news on the rapidly changing situation which aims to offer some stability and continuity in all our lives whilst so many of us are at home right now.
‘That’s why we have taken this tough decision to protect our GMB News programme in the morning and keep This Morning on air for as long as possible.’
Loose Women had aired without a live studio audience last week, but will now show repeats instead each lunchtime.
