New Balance’s arsenal of renowned sneaker silhouettes is something to behold. From the 990 series, 574, 1400, 576 and more, the Boston-based brand remains a major figure in the world of sneakers. But what happens when you take two of its most celebrated models in the 991 and 1500, and merge them into one? Enter the 991.5.
First seen in 2018 when the brand dropped a selection of in-line colorways and a collaboration alongside Concepts, the 991.5 is a seamless amalgamation of two epochal New Balance silhouettes and returns for 2021.
Boasting the upper from the 991, the“Grey/Blue” colored sneaker sits atop the recognisable 1500 sole unit and is enhanced with New Balance’s ENCAP cushioning support. Made up of at least 26% surplus stock materials, each sneaker features a mix of nubuck, leather, pigskin, mesh and synthetic, all of which is crafted in the brand’s factory in its U.K. factory in Flimby, Cumbria.
Set to drop in the near future, the New Balance Made in U.K. 991.5 will retail at $199.99 and will be available from the New Balance webstore.
In other sneaker news, New Balance has also draped its Made in the USA 992 in an all-black colorway.
