WWE fans around the world thought the company had landed the biggest signing of the decade after Meghan Markle announced a new deal.
The Duchess of Sussex made headlines this week after signing to William Morris Endeavour (WME), one of the biggest talent agencies in the game, for representation but some people thought something very different had happened.
Perhaps understandably, plenty of fans misread WME for WWE and momentarily lost their minds thinking Meghan was breaking into the world of professional wrestling.
‘I’m sure I’m not the only one but for a split second I thought Meghan signed with
@WWE!😂🤣 I’d be totally on board for that,’ wrote one excited fan, and they weren’t the only one.
Another quick thinking Twitter user even mocked up a custom entrance video for Meghan based on WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin’s promo, right down to the iconic glass shatter at the beginning.
If she ever does decided to hit the ring, at least she’s partway there.
And Raw Women’s Champion Bianca has also signed with the agency as she looks to pursue acting opportunities alongside her efforts in the ring – so it’s a no brainer.
WWE Raw (Mondays) and SmackDown (Fridays) air weekly at 1am on BT Sport 1.
