K-pop chart-toppers BTS will be taking a “period of rest,” according to a statement posted to Twitter by the group’s management team, Big Hit Music.
“This period of rest will provide the members of BTS, who have tirelessly committed themselves to their activities, a chance to get re-inspired and recharge with creative energy,” the statement read. “It will also be the first time for them since their debut to spend the holiday season with their families.”
Despite announcing the group’s hiatus, the statement also gave fans something to look forward to. “During their period of rest, BTS will be focusing on preparing for the concert and release of the new album that will mark the beginning of a ‘new chapter,’” the statement continued.
Last month, the group took home the artist of the year trophy at the American Music Awards, along with the titles of favorite pop duo or group and favorite pop song for their single “Butter.”
Prior to the announcement of their break, BTS was joined on stage at the Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium by Megan Thee Stallion to perform the surprise live debut of their “Butter” remix.
