Alison Hammond has recalled a royal faux-pas she made when meeting Prince William and Kate Middleton, and how she tried to recover from it – and we’d expect nothing less.
The Queen of TV casually hung out with the future king and queen of the country, playing darts with them and even inviting them around to hers for dinner.
The This Morning host is pretty used to welcoming celebs, having starred on the likes of Loose Women, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Strictly Come Dancing.
But when it comes to real royalty, she was so stunned she forgot to address them by their proper titles.
The 48-year-old explained to co-host Dermot O’Leary: ‘I led [Prince William] down the stairs, holding his hand… and on the way down the stairs, I remember that I hadn’t done “Your Royal Highness” or bowed.
‘So then I bowed, awkwardly on the stairs, holding his hand!’
Alison insisted she didn’t call him ‘babs’ but left William ‘giggling’ when she told him her mistake.
At first, Alison thought she wasn’t even going to be allowed in to invite the royals, before realising she was actually on the VIP list.
‘It was so embarrassing,’ she said, before feeling over the moon when they found her name on the VIP list.
‘I thought I was definitely going to have to do the walk of shame,’ she added.
After meeting the pair, they were, of course left ‘fighting’ for her, in Alison’s words.
The Big Brother star had invited Kate over to hers for dinner to treat her to some ‘spicy’ food, before later also extending a hand to William.
‘He was like, “yeah I’m definitely coming”, and then we went upstairs to take a photo, because I said I wanted a selfie, he was talking to Kate, going “Alison supports Aston Villa she’s my best friend, and she’s asked us to go to dinner,” and then Kate goes, “Yes I know she’s already asked me to go to dinner.”
‘So they’re like arguing over me!’

This comes after Alison left her followers gobsmacked when she shared a selfie to social media showing her with the royals, as they visited her home city of Birmingham.
‘These two are Everything !! @princeandprincessofwales Thanks for popping by in Birmingham,’ Alison captioned the photo.
‘Next time dinner at my place ! I’ll let you know full story tomorrow on @thismorning 👑,’ she added.
Many of her friends had some questions, including Kate Lawler, who wrote: ‘WTAF YOU MET THE FUTURE KING AND QUEEN! Drop the mic.’
‘Now that’s what I call a selfie,’ Loose Women star Ruth Langsford added.
Interior designer Will Taylor joked that he hoped the pair ‘curtsied to the queen’, referring to Alison.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
