Tess Daly saddened to skip NTAs for first time as husband Vernon forced to attend alone

Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly is a regular guest at the annual event but tonight announced she will be not be attending the live ceremony. The 52-year-old took to her Instagram Stories to address her absence.

In view of her 769,000 followers, she shared a throwback of her and her husband Vernon Kay from a previous year.

She commented: “Hope everyone has a fantastic evening at the NTAs tonight. So sad I can’t be there!”

Tess followed up her post with a picture of her and co-host Claudia Winkleman on the red carpet.

She added: “Good luck to the nominees tonight! Drink some champagne on my behalf.”

The mother-of-two didn’t disclose the reason for her no-show, however it is believed the cast of Strictly Come Dancing 2021 have been told to avoid big events as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Tess and Strictly for comment.

The presenter’s show Strictly Come Dancing is up for the Best Talent Show award.

The BBC dance competition is up against nominees; Britain’s Got Talent, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and The Masked Singer.

Despite her absence, Tess’ husband Vernon will be attending the event without her.

Taking to his Instagram page, the presenter shared a picture of the pair previously at the event.

He penned: “First year at the NTA’s without @tessdaly Gonna miss ya.”

Dancer Dianne Buswell has also revealed she will not be attending the event.

The only Strictly cast member seen on the red carpet so far this evening is Janette Manrara.

The dancer was pictured posing for pictures in a striking pink dress, which clung on to her sensational physique.

Janette stepped down from her dancing duties on the show earlier this year in favour of becoming the new Strictly: It Takes Two host.

The brunette beauty will replace former host Zoe Ball. 

The new series of Strictly kicks off later this month.
