Strictly Come Dancing contestant Sara Davies has candidly revealed that she has her sights set on impressing one Strictly judge the most. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the Dragons’ Den star, 37, told how she’s keen for her and her dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec to leave a good lasting impression on the newest judge Anton du Beke, explaining that she’s been “hanging off his every word” following her performances.

Anton has been absolutely unreal

When asked whether there was one judge she wanted to impress more than the others, the businesswoman didn’t hesitate in revealing who it was.

Sara said: “There is indeed, there is only one person I just want to impress and I impressed him with my Ballroom.”

This year is Anton’s first series as a judge on the popular BBC dance show, as he was previously a Strictly pro for nearly two decades.

The Dragons’ Den star went on to explain why she sees the Strictly vet as an asset to the judging panel.

Sara went on: “I think having Anton on the judging panel this year has been a massive change in dynamic.

“You’ve got someone there who, not only is clearly a very well qualified judge, but he knows what it’s like to be stood on the other side and where we are.”

The mother-of-two told how she takes on Anton’s criticism more than anyone else because of his experience on the Strictly dance floor.

“That gives him an enormous amount of empathy and understanding of what the judges comments mean to the person receiving them and how that helps you move forward,” Sara said.

Speaking about her time on the BBC programme, Sara admitted that as an entrepreneur on the show, she isn’t used to receiving criticism.

She explained: “I’m used to being on the other side.

“In Dragons’ Den I’m used to people coming in and pitching me and essentially I’m trying to give them constructive criticism on their business ideas, so whether or not they get an investment, they can learn something from that experience.”

Drawing parallels between her time as a Dragon and her feedback from the Strictly judges, Sara said: “It’s exactly the same for me with the judges’ comments.

“Yes, they’ll dish out praise when it’s due, but they’ll also try and give you feedback to help you improve for future weeks.”

However, Sara again told how it was Anton’s comments that matter to her the most.

“For me I’ve been hanging off his every word, really wanting to hear what he has to say so that he can help me improve,” she said.

Sara added: “Anton has been absolutely unreal.”

This week sees Sara and Aljaz perform the Argentine Tango by No More Tears (Enough is Enough) by Donna Summer and Barbara Streisand.

Following last Saturday’s performance, Sara and Aljaz landed themselves on fifth place on the leaderboard.

The couple had performed the Quickstep to 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday at 6.40pm.
