Love Island exes Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard came face to face yesterday in an “awkward” encounter at Thorpe Park.

The pair were both attending the launch of the Black Mirror Labyrinth live experience, but while the theme park may be a pretty big place, there was an 'awkward' moment when they visited the VIP area at the same time.

A source exclusively told OK!: “Curtis was already in the VIP area with his brother AJ when Maura arrived with her friends.

"Soon after Curtis and AJ left the area and walked right past Maura. They didn’t even acknowledge each other and it was all rather awkward.

"Maura glanced around at the pair before turning back to her friends and appearing to discuss her former boyfriend."

The source continued: “Curtis and AJ later returned to the VIP area and Curtis and Maura were stood in the same group with other fellow Love Islanders like Danny Williams, but they weren’t talking to each other.

"It appears they haven’t remained on friendly terms at all.”

While Maura was visiting Thorpe Park with fellow Islanders Chris Hughes, Shaugna Phillips and Georgia Steel, Hollyoaks actors Curtis and AJ attended with another fellow Islander Callum Macleod and his girlfriend.

Maura, 30, and Curtis, 25, began dating during the 2019 series of the ITV2 dating show and remained together for seven months.

All seemed to be going swimmingly between the pair until the beginning of 2020 when Curtis was accused of cheating, something he strongly denied.

Then in March 2020 Maura announced their split on Instagram, saying: ““There is no easy way to get through a break up and no bad feeling on either side.

"We tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be, and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future.”

Curtis later said he was “hurt” by the break-up, telling The Sun: “At the beginning of March we agreed to go our separate ways. It hurt.

"I wasn’t ready for everyone to know we had split up — I wanted some time. It was a shock to see that she had announced it on social media hours later.”

Maura has since opened up about the reason she and Curtis decided to call it quits, saying she didn’t see Curtis as her future husband anyone.

She said: "I just felt like I'm 29 and I want somebody that I can see a future with. I'm not getting any younger.

"Curtis and I barely saw each other. At the beginning it was very, very hard because I was so besotted with him, and we never got to see each other."

Since their break-up Curtis has also labelled Maura a “cheat”.

His comments, which reportedly left Maura “fuming”, came during a routine he did for new Channel 4 comedy show Stand Up & Deliver in support of Stand Up To Cancer.

While Curtis went on to briefly date fellow dancer Amber Pierson following their split, Maura began dating her Love Island co-star and best friend Chris Taylor.

The former couple announced their split earlier this month after seven months of dating, but Maura has insisted she “still loves” the 30-year-old.
