Married at First Sight UK couple Matt Jameson and Daniel McKee have revealed why they were delayed on their honeymoon and unable to join the rest of the cast at the show’s first dinner party.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Dan, 28, explained how someone tested positive on their flight home from their honeymoon in Mexico, meaning they had to quarantine for longer than expected.

Matt said of the delay: “So that was to do with Covid, but I don’t think Channel 4 wanted to say it because I think they wanted the whole production to appear Covid-free even though we were doing it in a pandemic.

“But we did obviously go abroad and then circumstances came up where we had to isolate longer because of Covid restrictions.”

Dan added: “We didn’t get Covid but even though we were Covid free someone on our flight tested positive so we had to quarantine for longer than the five days.

“We literally had our bags packed ready to move into the flat in Brighton”

But Dan, who is setting up his own meditation retreat in Northern Ireland, says the delay ended up working out for the better as it brought them closer together.

He continued: “It actually worked in our favour though because we were put in a B&B together in Brighton to quarantine.

“We were away from the cameras and drama and we just had nice wine and takeaways and really got to know each other. It brought us closer.”

Matt adds that it was nice to have not got caught up in some of the more explosive scenes of the series, including the first dinner party which saw Nikita Jasmine lock horns with Jordan Mundell and had to be escorted out

He said: “I think we were quite glad we missed that first dinner party! When we got to the apartment Adam [Aveling] and Tayah [Victoria] came and told us about it.

“There was so much drama but we’ve always said how lucky we are because we got on so well straight away.”

Dan added: “There was a sadness as everyone goes in to find love and then for people to find themselves in a vulnerable position it is sad.”

While many of the other couples hit bumps in the road, things for Matt and Dan have always been smooth sailing, so much so that they’ve even decided to buy a house together.

Exclusively revealing to OK! that they’ve decided to settle down in Northern Ireland, Matt said: "It's very exciting. Northern Ireland is the most beautiful place I've ever been to."
