The designer of Machine Gun Kelly’s engagement ring for Megan Fox has confirmed that it does feature thorns that could hurt the actress after the rapper insisted ‘love is pain’.
MGK, who proposed to Megan this month, shared details of the incredibly unique ring, which was designed by Stephen Webster, although some fans were left unsettled when he said that ‘the bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts…’
While some weren’t sure if the star was actually being serious, Stephen Webster told Metro.co.uk: ‘Thorn is an iconic motif for Stephen Webster and has been woven into many of our collections for almost a quarter of a century.
‘In reference to MGK’s ring for Megan Fox, it depends on how you take it off. If you’re not careful it hurts. After all, there is a fine line between pleasure and pain.’
Megan, 35, and MGK – real name Colson Baker – met on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass in 2020 and have been inseparable since.
The rapper, 31, proposed this month with the sparkling ring, which featured a diamond, his birth stone, and an emerald, Megan’s birth stone.
He told Vogue of the piece: ‘The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings.
‘When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet. So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart. And you see this right here? The bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts…’
He went on to add: ‘Love is pain!’
The couple got engaged under a beautiful banyan tree, with Megan sharing a video and writing on Instagram: ‘In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree. We asked for magic.
‘We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time.
‘Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma.
‘Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him.’
In a very Megan and MGK way, she concluded with: ‘And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes…and then we drank each other’s blood.’
The pair have become known for their unusual acts of love, with Billy Bob Thornton’s son even comparing them to his father and Angelina Jolie, who hit headlines for wearing a vial of each other’s blood round their necks.
