Kym Marsh cancels hosting The One Show after fearing she has coronavirus – Exclusive

Kym Marsh was due to host BBC's The One show alongside Alex Jones on Friday night, standing in for regular host Matt Baker.

However, the 43 year old former Coronation Street star has revealed she will no longer be hosting as she is self isolating at home amid coronavirus fears.

Kym exclusively told OK! : ”I’ve had to cancel some work. I was supposed to co-host The One Show, but it would have been very irresponsible of me to travel there even if I had been feeling well enough.”

Kym had exclusively revealed her exciting hosting news in her OK! magazine column, telling readers: "I'm co-hosting The One Show with Alex Jones on 20 March.

"I've always enjoyed doing live TV — let's hope I don't make a mistake," she continued to joke.

Kym was set to stand in for Matt Baker, who himself is now self-isolating as he is suffering from symptoms of the coronavirus.

Matt, 42, opened up on fears he has caught coronavirus, also known as Covid-19, after self-isolating at home with his family while speaking on The One Show on Thursday night.

Speaking via webcam to co-host Alex Jones, he admitted he was "anxious" about his health after he started to show symptoms, after his son initially showed symptoms of the virus.

When asked by Alex, also 42, how he was feeling, Matt told viewers: "It's been… do you know what?

"To be honest with you, right, I'm not feeling as good as I normally do and I've wondered for a couple of days whether or not we've got it.

"But certainly I'm feeling pretty tired and I've got this dry cough and I don't have a fever as such, but I have been going out today to try and get a bit of fresh air.

"So yeah, I am a bit anxious about whether or not I've got it, to be fair," he continued.


While Alex co-hosted the show with Patrick Kielty, they were joined on the sofa by Joe Wicks, who gave viewers exercise tips to work out from home.

This Morning's Dr Zoe Williams, who also fears she has been struck down by the bug, also joined by video link.

Matt is set to leave The One Show later this month, but it has not been announced who will replace him.
