Kendall Jenner has come under fire on social media, after she was seen hosting a huge Halloween party to celebrate her birthday.
The model threw a bash for her family and friends to celebrate her turning 25, with a whole host of stars turning out for the party including Jaden Smith, Justin Bieber and wife Hailey Baldwin and Kendall’s sister Kylie Jenner.
Footage and pictures from the party, where Kendall was dressed as Pamela Anderson in 1996 movie Barb Wire, later surfaced online, with many fans hitting out at the reality star for ‘irresponsibly’ hosting an event amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The bash took place at Harriet’s Rooftop located in the 1 Hotel in West Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight reports that health and safety protocols were in place, as every person entering the venue – staff and guests – were required to have a rapid Covid-19 test on arrival.
Those entering had to test negative before being allowed inside.
That didn’t stop those from slamming Kendall’s decision to go ahead with her party, however, especially after a video surfaced of her blowing out candles on her birthday cake while a masked party worker held it out in front of her.
In the video, Kendall is seen leaning in towards the cake to blow out the candles, while a member of staff, wearing a face covering and holding the cake, tries to lean out of her way.
Reacting on Twitter, one person shared the video and wrote: ‘ Ok Kendall Jenner blowing out candles as a masked waiter holds her cake and tries to move out of the way was actually the scariest thing I saw on Halloween.’
‘Where was your mask when blowing out candles on a cake that was presumably shared and that a service worker was holding? Not a care was given,’ another tweeted Kendall directly.
‘Kendall Jenner posting pics from her Halloween party and turning off the comments is PEAK ignorance,’ slammed one more.
Kendall’s party came ahead of her birthday on Tuesday and is the latest in a string of parties held by the Kardashians.
Her older sister Kim Kardashian recently turned 40 and to celebrate Kris Jenner and her husband Kanye West threw her a party that re-created all her past birthdays over the years.
It was reported at that time that all guests and staff working the party had to adhere to safety guidelines.
Kim had also hired a private island and whisked close friends and family away on holiday to celebrate her milestone birthday. She explained how she had asked those invited to quarantine and undergo multiple health screens to ensure it was safe to travel amid coronavirus.
Addressing her privilege, Kim told fans: ‘For my birthday this year, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend it than with some of the people who have helped shaped me into the woman I am today. Before COVID, I don’t think any of us truly appreciated what a simple luxury it was to be able to travel and be together with family and friends in a safe environment.
‘After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time. We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is. #thisis40.’
The US is currently one of the worst affected countries from coronavirus, with the number of cases now reaching over 9million.
Current guidelines in LA advise against people participating in public celebrations, with strict protocols in place by LA Public Health if parties are to go ahead, reports Deadline.
These include limiting guests to three households, hosting the event outdoors with physical distancing between households and limiting the event to no longer than two hours.
