Kelly Clarkson has advised Taylor Swift to re-record all of her old songs amid a dustup over control of her music catalog.
“@taylorswift13 just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don’t own the masters on exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions,” Clarkson wrote on Twitter.
Clarkson offered to purchase all of the songs if Swift decided to do so, saying, “I’d buy all the new versions just to prove a point.”
Swift has been engaged in a tussle with Scooter Braun after the talent manager acquired the company that owns her music catalog.
Braun’s media holding company, Ithaca Holdings LLC, acquired Big Machine Label Group.
She accused Scooter of stripping her of her life’s work, and claimed that she wasn’t given an opportunity to buy the rights to her recordings.
