Jay Blades, 50, has been appearing on the hit BBC programme, The Repair Shop since 2017, as well as helping disadvantaged groups of people with his social enterprise, Jay & Co. When the businessman is not filming various television shows, he can be found at home with his family in Wolverhampton, West Midlands.

I left my ex-wife the house and everything like that.

While Jay has become a regular on the BBC thanks to The Repair Shop and The Repair Shop: Fixing Britain, the East London born furniture restorer has also shared various moments of his life, including his diagnosis of dyslexia and studying at university as a mature student.

However, one aspect of his life that he rarely discusses is his relationship with his partner, Christine Goodman.

Jay and Christine have been in a relationship for four years, but he often keeps their happy romance away from social media.

Christine, who currently works as a marketing specialist for consumer goods and retailers, had previously studied at London’s prestigious College of Fashion, before reportedly going on to work as a therapist.

Before meeting Christine, Jay had been married to his ex-wife, Jade, who he had met while studying at university.

Sadly, their marriage broke down and Jay left the family home before relocating to the West Midlands.

Speaking about their relationship, he told the Daily Star: “I was homeless. You heard me right – yes, homeless.

“Everything fell down for me. My marriage broke up, my business broke up.

“I left my ex-wife the house and everything like that.”

The former flames share daughter Zola together, who made an appearance on Jay’s Instagram page in August 2020 with an adorable throwback shot.

Sharing a snap of his daughter as a toddler, Jay penned: “THOUGHT OF THE DAY

“Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.

“Love You my Baby Zola (I know she’s 14 but I’m Dad).”

Jay has previously addressed his mental health battles, admitting that he had “dark moments” but recently found himself in a good place, thanks to The Repair Shop.

He believes that the success of the programme is due to the “feel good” nature of the show which attracts millions of viewers.

Speaking of the popularity, he said: “I think it has become popular because a lot of people want to be a part of something that feels like a community.

“I’m not saying shows don’t do that but [at] The Repair Shop we have got such a family kind of ethos and I think that oozes through the screen as well.”

Despite his newfound fame, Jay has previously ruled out appearing on Strictly Come Dancing, saying: “I tell you who needs to get on Strictly and that’s Suzie Fletcher].

“She is the best dancer ever, my dancing should probably be left to a darkened room that nobody can see what I am doing!”

Jay has also appeared on several television shows away from The Repair Shop, swapping the repair shop for the MasterChef kitchen as he joined the 2018 celebrity line-up of the show.

On the series, he appeared alongside Towie star Gemma Collins, former Strictly star AJ Pritchard, as well as actor John Partridge.
