Jana Kramer and husband Mike Caussin, who’s been open about his battle with sex addiction, are in a tough spot again after the country singer found a photo of a topless woman on his phone.
“I really don’t want to be here right now,” Kramer, 35, said on the new episode of the couple’s podcast, “Whine Down,” on Monday.
Caussin, 32, and Kramer go back and forth over whether to tell the story, but the former NFL player eventually begins by saying that on Saturday, he received a topless photo from a woman he didn’t know with a message underneath that read, “Let’s try to meet up this time.”
Caussin said he knew he should have pulled Kramer aside to show her and let her know, but instead just deleted the message and blocked the number. Kramer, however, ended up seeing the photo on his Apple Watch the next day.
“She thought I was just being sneaky and deleting it,” he explained. “I understand and I truly am empathetic to the fact that her seeing something that was deleted that wasn’t brought to her attention by me in a healthy way is extremely triggering and it’s a boundary to not delete things, something that we have mutually discussed and agreed on.”
The pair — who have a 3-year-old daughter and 10-month-old son — first separated in August 2016 when it was revealed he’d cheated on her multiple times with multiple women. They decided to work through everything and renewed their vows in December 2017. Caussin also relapsed around a year ago, but the couple again worked through it.
“I saw it, and my heart just fell. I was like, it’s here. It’s happened again. I’m such a f–king idiot,” the “One Tree Hill” actress said, adding that she texted the number and asked the woman if she would tell her what’s going on, but she began getting weird responses, leading her to believe the number was a bot. Kramer continued, explaining she’s constantly scared. “I don’t want to live this kind of life. We just moved into this beautiful house, and we had our second kid, and we fought so hard. Why is this happening again?”
To Caussin, she said, “I love you, Mike, but like, you’re a good liar. Like, you passed the lie detector test, you know what I mean? … I’ve seen you look me in the eye and tell me what your truth was, but it wasn’t your truth. So I’m kinda caught in this weird, like, what do I believe? Was it just a fluke? I don’t know. … So I’m like, do I keep asking for signs, or are these my signs to f–king get out of dodge?
“Sorry, this is just really fresh,” she said, breaking down.
On Monday, Kramer posted a lengthy Instagram about the podcast and how they almost pulled the episode but are ultimately happy they didn’t.
“Because the podcast didn’t end great … today we are good, and have grown stronger from it,” she wrote. “See that’s the thing, if you’re both willing to fight you can get stronger on the other side.”
