Dan Walker, 44, is currently paired with Nadiya Bychkova, 32, on Strictly Come Dancing. The BBC Breakfast host has spoken out after it was claimed he would be sent home after the dreaded dance-off on the BBC spin-off show It Takes Two.

The presenter took to Twitter after a call to vote for Dan was posted online.

It comes after the BBC Breakfast host is expected to perform a “romantic” dance for his wife this week.

The Sheffield Star, who are rooting for the broadcaster, reacted to the news and tweeted: “This is lovely. Can @mrdanwalker count on your vote on @bbcstrictly this weekend?”

In view of his 727,000 followers, Dan replied: “We are going to need it… apparently the entire Friday panel said I was going home this week on #ItTakesTwo.”

Fans swiftly inundated Dan with messages of support, as they urged him to stay in the dance competition.

Chris Rhydderch penned: “That was very unfair and I wholeheartedly disagree that you’re ‘The Weakest Link’.  You’re doing SO well Dan and as a Dance Teacher myself I can definitely see your improvement every week so you’ll definitely get my vote tomorrow.  Good Luck.”

Dan replied: “Thanks Chris. Looking forward to dancing tonight. I’ve been on ITT and have no problem with what they said. They have to pick someone. I’m loving learning to dance and hope put in a good performance later.”

Dianne commented: “I have faith in you staying in. You’re not the comedy act, but you’ve got a sense of humour (Can’t Touch This, brilliant!) and do have rhythm, which is better than past contenders!”

“Take no notice,” Valerie Underwood remarked.

Sophie Bastin assured: “My mum is voting for you every week independent of your routine, just cos she likes you. Bet a lot of people are rooting for you like that!”

Sofia added: “Wouldn’t it be amazing to prove them wrong!”

Dan’s remarks come after yesterday’s episode of Strictly It Takes Two, where host Rylan Clark-Neal was joined by celebrity panel Jamie Laing, Christopher Biggins and Ria Hebden.

When the trio were quizzed on who would be leaving the show on Sunday night, they all voted for Dan.

Rylan asked: “Who do you think is going home on Sunday night?”

Jamie replied: “If he is still on BBC Breakfast it’s going to be Dan.”

Ria said that she also agreed with Jamie despite being a fan of the BBC Breakfast host.

“I love Dan and I think he’s brilliant. He’s really represented for the dads,” she remarked.

“He’s been so entertaining but he’s the weakest link now.”

Chris added: “I want to get the job of presenting the news on BBC news so sadly, Dan.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight on BBC One at 7.15pm.
