Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s highly-anticipated sit-down with Oprah Winfrey is scheduled to air on March 7, 2021 on CBS — and it’s expected to be a bombshell of an interview. This is the couple’s first televised interview since announcing they were stepping down from their roles as senior royals in 2020. But in the days leading up to it, a source in a new report published in The Times U.K. alleged the Duchess of Sussex bullied her former royal aides, claiming she drove her staff to “tears” while she was still living in England (as per ET). Meghan has denied the allegations, and a spokesperson told USA Today that “The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma.”
Buckingham Palace later issued their own statement revealing they would look into the accusations as they do not tolerate bullying. But sources close to Meghan and Harry told Us Weekly they think the investigation is “retaliation” for the duo’s upcoming tell-all. Whether or not this is true remains unclear, but many of Meghan’s famous friends have come to her defense. Keep scrolling to see all the Hollywood stars who are publicly supporting her.
Meghan Markle's Suits co-star called the royal family an 'institution that has outlived its relevance'
Meghan Markle’s friends seem to agree that the reports against her and husband Prince Harry are “a calculated smear campaign” (per Page Six) in an effort discredit the couple’s upcoming tell-all interview. Celebrities, including Gabrielle Union, Chance the Rapper, and Halle Berry have all spoken out in support of the Duchess while actors Jameela Jamil and Patrick J. Adams directly addressed the Royal Family and their refusal to protect Meghan. “IF THIS IS WHAT THE ROYAL FAMILY IS COMFORTABLE DOING TO A HEAVILY PREGNANT WOMAN PUBLICLY…. can we even IMAGINE what they put her through privately?” the Good Place alum tweeted. “They seem terrified. Her interview hasn’t even aired yet. What are they covering up? The stench of their desperation is rotten.”
Meanwhile, Meghan’s good friend and former Suits co-star shared a series of tweets of his own, writing, “It’s OBSCENE that the Royal Family, who’s newest member is currently GROWING INSIDE OF HER, is promoting and amplifying accusations of ‘bullying’ against a woman who herself was basically forced to flea the U.K. in order protect her family and her own mental health.” He also wrote that this is “just another stunning example of the shamelessness of a institution that has outlived its relevance,” adding that the royal family should “find someone else to admonish, berate and torment” because “Meghan is way out of your league.”
