Celine Dion reveals she has Stiff Person Syndrome
Superstar singer Celine Dion shocked fans in December last year when she revealed that she was suffering from Stiff Person Syndrome.
In January 20he had been forced to cancel her Las Vegas shoxplaining to fans that “severe and persistent muscle spasms” were preventing her from performing, and her recovery was taking longer than shped.
It wasn’t until December 2022 that she finally revealed the cause of her problems.
In an emotional 5-minute video posted to her 5.9 million Instagram followehe star fought back tears as she made an official statement.
“Hello everyone, I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to reach out to you. I miss you all so much and can’t wait to be on stage talking to you in person,” she opened.
“As you know I’ve always been an open book and I wasn’t ready to say anything before but I’m ready now.
“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time and it’s been really difficult for me to face my challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through.
“While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what’s been causing all the spasms I’ve been having,” she added.
“Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”
She explainedhat she has a “great team of doctors working alongside her” and is being supported by her “precious children”.

Stiff Person Syndrome is a rare, chronic neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and sometimes intense muscle spasms in the trunk andecting posture, balance, and the ability to use certain muscles.
At the time of the announceme My Heart Will Go On singtponed her Courage World Tour European dates into 2024.
Despite th was said to be very resilient.
Shortly after her announcemeople reported that a source told them: “It’s been a very difficult time and she has a hard road ahead of her, but she is doing everything she can to get back and see her fans.
“They have always been there for her. For now, she is focusing on her health and her children. She is the picture of resilience.”
Unfortunately, it appears that these aren’t working as well as Celine had hoped as she has now cancelled all upcoming tour dates.
Her nexshow should have been on August 26, 2023, in The Netherlands Instagram to announce that all upcoming performances were cancelled.
She said: “I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again… and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything until I’m really ready to be back on stage… I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!”
Celine is currently appearing on the big screen in te Aghich she plays a version of herself.
