Ben Shephard has confirmed he will return to Good Morning Britain on Monday 19 July after his leg operation.

The 46 year old TV presenter took to his Instagram to share a video update with his fans.

Ben has been away from our screens for some weeks after undergoing an operation on his leg earlier this month to treat a football injury.

He underwent the procedure after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament [ACL] and tore the meniscus in his knee.

Weeks after going under the knife, Ben shared his thanks to fans for the support he received and revealed how he was getting on as he continues to recover.

In the clip, posted to his Instagram page, Ben explained his recovery was "so far so good".

Ben also told fans: "I'm back at work on Monday, so I will be joining Susanna [Reid] behind the desk and as long as I've got my leg up and haven't got too much more feeling in my system I should be OK!"

He also revealed he spends most days attached to a Physiolab machine, which released cold water into a pressure cuff around his leg to help reduce the swelling.

Ben added he is also attending physiotherapy sessions around two times per week to try and get his leg fully extended and get the bend in his knee "back".

Speaking about his recovery, he explained: "It's agony at times, as anybody who has been through this will know. But, we're taking it slowly.

"We're getting there I think," Ben added. The TV star went under the knife earlier this month after sustaining the painful injuries while playing in the final of the Arthur Dunn Veterans' Cup.

As Ben shared the update he shared his gratitude for the well wishes he received so far.

He wrote in the caption: "I’m about 11/12 days post op now. I can’t thank you all enough for the messages you’ve sent, asking how I am and wishing me well. I’m sorry I can’t respond to them all, but I do try and read as many as possible."

Ben was met with well wishes from fans and celebrity friends in the comments.

Ben's fellow GMB colleague Andi Peters said: "You’re like a recovering International Athlete! Shall I pop round with ice cream?"

While Celebs Go Dating star Tom Read Wilson added: "Wishing you a very speedy recovery, darling boy! X".

And social media star Jeremy Lynch penned: "Speedy recovery bro" followed by a praying emoji and a fist bump emoji.
